Kansas Employment and Unemployment Rate. 62.2% of the Kansas population over the age of 15 were employed which ranks 14th in the nation. The Kansas unemployment rate is 6.5% which was ranked 43rd in the country.

Types of Employers. The types of employers in Kansas were as follows: 82,773 (5.9%) were self-employed, 237,622 (17%) were employed by the federal, state, or local government and 1,071,524 (76.8%) were employed by the private sector.
