In 2009 Florida had a total violent crime rate of 612.6 incidents per 100,000 individuals, which was higher than the U.S. violent crime rate of 439.7. Of the 612.6 violent crime incidents, 5.5 were murders, 29.7 were forcible rapes, 166.8 were robberies, and 410.6 were aggravated assaults.

The total rate of property crime in Florida in 2009 was 3,841 incidents per 100,000 individuals, higher than the U.S. property crime rate of 3,071.5. The breakdown of the property crime incidents was as follows: 981.2 burglary incidents, 2,588.7 larceny/theft incidents, and 271.2 motor vehicle theft incidents.
